About the Book

What happens when a project is delivered on time, within budget, and to specification — and the customer’s reaction is still little more than: “So what?”

The End of “So What?” explores the difference between simply satisfying customers and creating the kind of confidence, trust, and loyalty that makes a professional-services relationship genuinely memorable.

Drawing on more than thirty years of experience in consulting, systems integration, ERP implementations, and complex client engagements, Rudi Depaepe argues that technical competence is only the starting point. Customers expect capable delivery. What they remember is how it felt to work with you when things became uncertain, complicated, or uncomfortable.

The book introduces three practical principles for moving beyond indifference:

Create Narrative Clarity — help customers understand what is really happening, what matters, and what comes next.

One Lead, One Voice — make ownership visible and ensure the customer experiences one coherent organisation rather than a collection of departments.

Reducing the Noise — distinguish genuine risk from everyday project turbulence and help customers focus their attention where it matters.

Alongside these principles, the book explores escalation management, the impact of small human behaviours, customer loyalty, and the growing role of AI in professional communication.

Practical, personal, and deliberately free of management jargon, The End of “So What?” is written for consultants, project leaders, account managers, service professionals, and anyone responsible for turning competent delivery into lasting customer confidence.
