Your months are for any of your published books. How they arrive depends on the term you choose:

Annual: both months are yours the day you join, to use whenever you want them.
Quarterly: a quarter's worth at a time, which comes to two months a year.
Monthly: a month on The Shelf every six months you're a member.

Books die alone. The ones that get finished are the ones somebody else has looked at, so every Book Weekend day ends with Ultra Author office hours: 2:30 pm Pacific, for 60 minutes. That is at least 24 office hours over the next 12 months, with at least 2 per month.

Saturday is a working session that ends with everyone publishing. Sunday is hot seats and Q&A, where we help you debug your book, your launch and your pricing.

Send your questions in advance, and the recording is posted within a day, so you get your answer whether or not the hour suits your time zone. Office hours run on every scheduled Book Weekend day, whether or not anyone booked that weekend.

Anyone holding the plan can come, including on a month of Ultra Author that came with a Books Die Alone Pro Ticket or the six months that come with a Book Weekend ticket.

Four 30-minute 1:1 calls a year with Peter or Len: a debugging session for your book, a launch walkthrough, code review for your book, whatever you want the half hour for. One unlocks for each quarter you've paid for: after three monthly payments, with each quarterly payment, and all four at once on the annual term.

You are in Len's priority queue for two Launch videos about your book (the first whenever you're ready, after you've published in-progress; the second when you're at 100%) and for an interview on the Leanpub Podcast, whenever it makes sense for you.

Do I get a whole quarter or year of AI usage at once?

No. On every term your AI usage arrives a month at a time, on your billing day. On the quarterly and annual terms, if you use a month up early, you can buy an extra month of AI usage from your account: it's added as soon as you buy it, and it never expires.

What is The Shelf?

The Shelf is the bookshelf on the Leanpub homepage. A month there puts your book in front of every reader who lands on Leanpub. An Ultra Author Membership earns two months on The Shelf a year, the same as Max, for any of your published books.

When do I get my months on The Shelf?

It depends on your term, the same as Max. On the annual term, both months are yours the day you join. On the quarterly term, you get a quarter's worth at a time, which comes to two months a year. On the monthly term, you get a month on The Shelf every six months you're a member.

What are the office hours?

Every Book Weekend day ends with Ultra Author office hours at 2:30 pm Pacific, for 60 minutes: at least 24 office hours over the next 12 months, with at least 2 per month. Saturday is a working session that ends with everyone publishing; Sunday is hot seats and Q&A. You can send questions in advance, recordings are posted within a day, and they run whether or not anyone booked that weekend.

What is a hot seat?

Time in a Sunday office hours session spent on your book: you bring what you are stuck on, and Peter, Len and the other authors there work on it while everyone else listens.

When do my 1:1 calls unlock?

One 30-minute call with Peter or Len unlocks for each quarter you've paid for: after three monthly payments, with each quarterly payment, or all four at once on the annual term. The six months of Ultra Author in a Book Weekend ticket count as one paid month: go on to Ultra Author monthly before they end and the ticket counts as your first monthly payment. A month of Ultra Author that came with any other ticket doesn't count.

What are the member prices on Leanpub's services?

Every Leanpub service has a member price, and it is the same for Max Author and Ultra Author members. Publish on Amazon, for example, is $1,499; members pay $1,299. They come with any month of Ultra Author, from the day it starts.

How does Book Weekend relate to Ultra Author?

I have a term of Ultra Author from a ticket. What's in it?

The real membership: ten times the AI usage of Max, Leanpub's AI Studio, the office hours and the member prices on Leanpub's services, for as long as the term runs — a month from a Books Die Alone Pro Ticket, six months from a Book Weekend ticket. The 1:1 calls come with a paid membership, and a Book Weekend ticket counts as your first monthly payment toward them if you go on to Ultra Author monthly before its term ends. When the term ends, it ends: nothing renews and nothing is charged.

Does it renew?

Yes, like any Leanpub membership. Choose monthly, quarterly or annual, and it renews on that term until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your account page.

What isn't included?

A seat at a Book Weekend, which is a ticket bought on its own, and Leanpub's services themselves, which members buy at the member price.

What royalty rate does Leanpub pay?

We pay 80% on books and courses priced at $7.99 and up. Below $7.99, we pay 80% minus 50 cents. So, you earn $3.50 from a $5 sale, $8 from a $10 sale, $16 from a $20 sale, and $24 from a $30 sale. You'd be surprised how many people buy $20 and $30 ebooks, and $89 or $129 courses!
