I am sure many people say this, but putting this cookbook together has been a labor of love. It has taken me down memory lane. While I only lived on the island for a year in high school I have been back and forth my entire life, especially after my mother moved back to the island. I remember all of the "cuchifrito" (coo-chee-free-toe) stands selling crispy bacalaíto or alcapurrias and cold beer. That is how cold beer and Puerto Rican finger foods became an item in my mind. They are a pair made in food heaven.
