Philippe Borremans

Philippe Borremans is an independent consultant specialising in risk, crisis, and emergency communication, with over two decades of experience helping organisations prepare for and navigate high-stakes situations.

Throughout his career, he has advised UN agencies, government bodies across Europe and Africa, and multinational corporations. His work focuses on developing practical risk, crisis and emergency communication strategies, designing realistic simulation exercises, and delivering interactive training that builds resilient teams.

Philippe’s expertise is grounded in hands-on experience managing a wide range of real-world events, including public health emergencies, natural hazards, and complex corporate reputation challenges. His strategic approach combines data-driven decision-making with a deep understanding of human factors, ensuring that communication is not only effective but also empathetic. 

Prior to his independent consultancy, he spent a decade at IBM leading corporate and online communications at national and European levels and worked with Porter Novelli International, a leading PR agency..

A thought leader and educator, Philippe frequently lectures at universities and business schools. He is the author of the 2023 book, Mastering Crisis Communication with ChatGPT, and publishes the popular weekly newsletter and podcast, Wag The Dog, which explores the latest trends at the intersection of technology, AI, and crisis management. 

As a past President of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and a member of The Resilience Advisors Network, Philippe continues to shape and advance the global crisis communication landscape.
