Welcome to the discussion forum for A Spiritual Book for Rational People.

If you have picked up the early-reader edition or are following its development, thank you for stepping into this inquiry in its formative stages.

Why This Forum Exists

This book is being published progressively for two very practical reasons:

First, it is a substantial work covering a large territory. Releasing it chapter by chapter makes the material digestible, allowing each concept to settle before moving to the next.

Second, I am actively seeking thoughtful feedback along the way. Rather than finishing the entire manuscript behind closed doors, releasing it incrementally allows me to test the clarity of the arguments, address unexamined counter-arguments, and refine the text as it grows.

This forum is designed as a shared workspace where readers can raise questions, point out logical gaps and share their own observations.

What the Book Is About

The project operates on two levels:

  1. A Conceptual Framework:It builds an open-ended framework that bridges the objective world studied by empirical science with the subjective world disclosed in direct first-person experience. We begin by investigating the proposition that consciousness is primary, without abandoning the logic, evidence, and sceptical scrutiny that rational inquiry demands.
  2. A Practical Path of Evolution: Beyond ontology, the central aim of the book is to explore the evolution of our consciousness – and how that evolution can be consciously accelerated. Across the upcoming chapters, we will identify the specific cognitive, emotional, and systemic "brakes" that keep us locked on autopilot, and examine practical ways to release them. In that sense, the book is designed not just as a philosophical inquiry, but as a grounded manual for personal development.

Current Status and Timeline

  • Available now: The complete Introduction and Chapter 1 (Consciousness as Primary).
  • Next release: Chapter 2 (The Evolution of Consciousness) is already fully drafted, currently undergoing final editorial review, and scheduled for release in six weeks.
  • Updates: Your Leanpub purchase gives you permanent access to all future chapters, volumes, and revisions at no additional cost. When Chapter 2 is published, Leanpub will automatically notify you and deliver the updated file to your library.

Starting Points for Feedback

As you read the Introduction and Chapter 1, you do not need to hold back your doubts. Scepticism is an asset here, not an obstacle.

I would be especially grateful for your critical perspectives on:

  • Logical consistency: Did you encounter any assertions that feel unsupported, or places where a conclusion does not strictly follow from the premise?
  • Conceptual clarity: Are foundational terms – such as consciousness, subjective experience, or the distinction between a framework and a model – defined clearly and rigorously?
  • Counter-arguments: What is the strongest sceptical objection to the primacy of consciousness that Chapter 1 failed to address adequately?
  • Your own observations: Did the phenomenological thought experiments trigger any specific observations or anomalies in your own experience?

Ground Rules for Discussion

  • Critique the argument, not the person: Rigorous questioning and intellectual disagreement are warmly welcomed; personal attacks or condescension are not.
  • Respect both rivers of knowing: We take direct first-person experience seriously as primary data, but we submit it to logical coherence and sceptical scrutiny rather than accepting claims on blind faith.
  • Start where you are: Whether you want to raise a detailed philosophical critique, ask a clarifying question about an exercise, or simply introduce yourself and share what drew you to this book, all contributions are welcome.

Please feel free to reply below and say hello. What is your background? what caught your attention in the opening chapters?

Thank you for helping me test and refine this work.
