About the Book

I wrote this guide for data engineers and analytics engineers who want to work on crypto and blockchain data, and for analysts who want to get more technical.

It starts with how raw chain data is shaped on EVM chains, Solana, Sui and Bitcoin, then goes through the work underneath every number: researching a protocol before you build, reading raw data from RPC and public datasets, indexing EVM chains and Solana, streaming with correct reorg handling, storage in OLAP engines, warehouses and lakehouses, modeling and testing with dbt or SQLMesh, and orchestration and cost. It ends with analytics craft with AI agents and a career chapter built on hiring data from Unchain Data's job board, which tracks 400+ live crypto data roles at 160+ companies.

What you get:

- 125 pages: 14 chapters and 7 appendices

- 22 hands-on exercises, including 7 end-to-end projects; 19 run on free tools with no account

- Read access to a private GitHub repository with the runnable code (see the last page of the book for how to get your invite)

- PDF and ePub

You need basic SQL, and Python helps. You do not need to know crypto already: Chapter 2 explains how chain data is structured. This is a technical book, not financial or investment advice.

The guide is updated monthly, and each edition is named by year and month. Every new edition I publish is included at no extra cost, and on Leanpub it shows up in your library automatically.

About the Author

Vincent Charles

I'm Vincent Charles. I run Unchain Data and work as a fractional data lead for crypto teams. Before that I led data and BI at Binance and at Morpho, where I built both functions from zero. Most of my work is on Ethereum and Solana, with more and more Sui. I built WizardCamp, the first web app to learn blockchain analytics with SQL. This guide is the next step, for analysts who want to go further and for engineers who want to stay current in crypto data. X: @0x_vcharles. Email: vincent@unchaindata.xyz.
