Excel para periodistas es un libro escrito a partir de las experiencias acumuladas a lo largo de una década dedicada a la formación de periodistas y al trabajo con medios de prensa en la cobertura de noticias basadas en datos. El texto esboza las técnicas a emplear para hacerles las preguntas correctas a los datos, valiéndose de herramientas como las hojas de cálculo de Excel o Google Sheets.
No se trata simplemente de consultas sobre cifras: con este libro podrá hacerse de nuevas técnicas de trabajo que le permitirán encontrar “la aguja en el pajar de los datos”. Aprenderá a limpiar y a modificar sus datos para poder hacerles diferentes preguntas, o prepararlos para emplearlos en mapas o gráficos; descubrirá cómo crear otros nuevos a partir de ciertos tipos de materia prima, y cómo combinar diferentes conjuntos para buscar conexiones y tendencias.
Excel para periodistas está lleno de esas preguntas, formuladas en un lenguaje inteligible para este tipo de documentos, e incluye ejemplos comunes del periodismo y de la vida real que podrá usar para practicar.
La estructura del libro hace que resulte útil tanto para principiantes, como para quienes están más familiarizados con el funcionamiento de una hoja de cálculo.
