My journey through information systems began in 1980 and continues to this day. First as a developer or "Programmer/Analyst" as was popular in those days, then into systems programming and support, database administration, and finally into management.
Five years in management motivated me to get back into technology which meant Macintosh and Windows development, Client/Server applications and various database technologies.
My career has been a constant learning curve as technology and the tools it produces constantly evolved. It has been constantly both challenging and exhilarating. Work a day, come home and spend time with my wife and two growing children, only to awake in the middle of the night with some idea running in my head and get up for a secret two hour rendezvous with some tech manual. I’ve continued to write code the whole time as I’ve never shaken the coding bug that bit me so many years ago.
But now with the onslaught of the Cloud, something unfamiliar has happened.
