There is documentation about Drupal. What there isn't is a reference that treats the core as what it is: a software system with an architecture of its own, explicit contracts, and design decisions that have consequences in the code you write on top of it.
This book fills that gap. It doesn't explain how to build a site: it explains how the kernel works on the inside, what contract each service exposes, and why the system behaves the way it does. It runs to 1414 pages and 254 chapters organized in six parts, from the `Drupal\Component` subsystems — plain PHP that doesn't know Drupal exists — to the 74 core modules, one per chapter.
