Steve Poole

Steve Poole has engineered Java SDKs and JVM runtimes since the platform's initial releases. Over a multi-decade career at IBM, he developed and delivered enterprise Java runtimes, represented IBM across numerous Java Specification Requests (JSRs), and contributed to core open-source initiatives across Apache, Eclipse, and OpenJDK. He was an early participant in the Adopt OpenJDK initiative, advocating for broader community participation in OpenJDK testing and distribution. He is a Java Champion, Oracle ACE, IBM Champion, and a director of the London Java Community (LJC). He has delivered technical presentations on JVM internals, runtime diagnostics, and memory architectures at international developer conferences, including JavaOne, Devoxx, JAX, and QCon. As a Developer Advocate at HeroDevs, he focuses on software supply chain security, end-of-life (EOL) platform support, and enterprise Java runtime modernization. In enterprise architectures, the Java runtime environment serves as the foundational component of the software supply chain.
