Adrian Hornsby

Adrian Hornsby is the Founder and CEO of Resilium Labs, a consultancy focused on why resilience practices so often fail to build the capability organizations expect. With over two decades of experience in software engineering and operations, Adrian specializes in resilience engineering, operational excellence, and chaos engineering.

During his nearly decade-long tenure at Amazon Web Services (AWS), Adrian worked as a Solution Architect and later as a Technical Evangelist, where he developed open source chaos engineering tools. Following their success, he joined AWS Fault Injection Service (FIS) as Principal Engineer, focusing on service development, operational excellence, and working with large-scale customers. He helped scale chaos engineering practices across Amazon and AWS, collaborating with teams including Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Search, and AWS Lambda. At AWS, Adrian built training programs for technical field communities, delivered customer Executive Briefing Centers, and served as a Bar Raiser for the Correction-of-Error (COE) and Operational Readiness Review (ORR) programs.

Adrian's work focuses on helping engineering organizations understand why they keep having the same types of incidents despite doing incident analysis, GameDays, operational readiness reviews, and chaos engineering. He diagnoses the feedback loop failures and organizational patterns that prevent teams from learning and adapting. This involves embedding with teams to observe how work actually happens, identifying gaps between policy and practice, and understanding what incentives shape behavior. Rather than implementing prescriptive solutions, he helps organizations see the dynamics blocking resilience and develop their own capacity to navigate them.

Outside of his consulting work, Adrian delivers keynotes and workshops on resilience engineering, operational excellence, and chaos engineering, advises VC portfolio companies on engineering practices, and serves on advisory boards for several organizations. He is based in Helsinki, Finland.
