Syed Ahmar Shah

Dr. Syed Ahmar Shah is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh and an engineer by training. He holds a DPhil in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Oxford.

With nearly two decades of research experience, his work spans signal processing, machine learning, healthcare data science and digital-health technologies. He has contributed to over 100 peer-reviewed publications, including research published in The Lancet, Nature Medicine, Brain and Thorax.

His research has involved developing and evaluating computational methods, working with large-scale healthcare datasets, and developing digital-health interventions tested in randomised controlled trials and subsequently licensed for commercialisation.

He brings to his writing an engineering perspective informed by the practical challenges of turning advances in artificial intelligence and data science into useful real-world applications.
