The Big Picture
A house's strength is decided at framing, not finish. Ten chapters, one maxim — level the plate; do not survey the errors — applied to a foundation, a floor, a wall, a roof, and a run of stairs.

About the Book
A practical guide to framing methods that produce a truly sound structure — not facades, finishes, or curb appeal. Every technique is tied to one guiding maxim: level the plate; do not survey the errors.
Given an imperfection, you can describe it — measure it, work around it forever — or absorb it: find one true reference and bring everything else to meet it, once. Every chapter tests which move it is making.
10 chapters plus introduction, following the actual build sequence: the foundation you're given, floors that don't bounce, the wall as a system, openings without guesswork, the roof's real job, rafters/trusses/the ridge, a laser level replacing the story pole, hip roofs without the math, and stair stringers that tell you where they go.
Written for a serious DIYer, framer, or renovator who wants to understand why framing is done a certain way — every method justified by the structural principle behind it, not by 'that's how it's done.'
