Bypass the sterile cardboard icon of history books to discover the flesh-and-blood strategist who shook the foundations of an empire. Nelson Mandela: Design of Destiny takes you on an immersive journey from the underground shadow wars of the "Black Pimpernel" to the grueling isolation of Robben Island and the high-stakes diplomacy that birthed a new nation. Masterfully written by Jamie Glick, this is the ultimate narrative biography of endurance, strategic empathy, and the unbreakable human spirit.
As smart factories evolve and artificial intelligence takes center stage, many organizations are asking: Do we still need leaders walking the shop floor? This book answers with a resounding yes.
Part of Lean Foundations & Advanced AI Applications SeriesWhether you're in healthcare, government, education, or manufacturing, AI-Powered Lean helps you reimagine how value is created—and how waste is eliminated—with the aid of intelligent tools.

What's inside:33 ranked optimization patterns from foundational table design through advanced governance. Castle-and-moat security is dead. This book replaces it with Zero Trust Architecture and Structured Autonomy for agentic AI — NIST and CISA principles, EU AI Act risk tiers, human-in-the-loop escalation, and GDPR Article 22 governance — and hands CTOs and enterprise architects the complete toolkit to secure the borderless, AI-driven enterprise.
The static IT audit is dead. This book replaces it with dynamic portfolio governance — the REAP methodology, mathematically quantified architecture debt, and FinOps for AI unit economics — and hands CTOs and enterprise architects the complete toolkit to fund the Gen AI transition by ruthlessly retiring legacy.
Point-to-point integration is dead. This book replaces it with the Connectivity Matrix — API governance, Event-Driven Architecture, LLM gateways with token cost management, and Team Topologies — and hands CTOs and enterprise architects the complete toolkit to bridge governed data and autonomous agents in the age of Agentic AI.
Build vs. Buy is dead. This book replaces it with the BBEC Framework — Buy, Build, Extend, Compose — and hands CTOs and enterprise architects the complete toolkit to source software strategically in the age of AI, under GDPR, NIS2, and the EU AI Act.
Flaps and the Steep Approach Pitch attitude: Flap deployment requires a lower AOA to generate required lift at a given speed and pitch attitude will be lower. No flap landings require a higher pitch attitude. NOTE: pitch attitude does not equal steeper descent angle. See discussion below.Descent angle: Flaps, by themselves DO NOT cause a steeper approach path to clear an obstacle. The descent angle depends on both ground speed AND rate of descent. Low ground speeds and higher rates of descent increase the descent angle. See figure below.Flaps lower the stall speed which allows a slower approach speed which steepens the approach angle. However, if the approach speed is not reduced, neither will the descent angle. Flaps add drag which increases the descent rate for a given power setting and given air speed. The increased descent rate will increase the descent angle for a particular airspeed. However, if too much power or air speed is carried in the approach, there will not be an increase in descent angle. Note: Steeping the approach is accomplished by lowering ground speed. This can be done by slowing the approach or in the case of strong headwinds. More power is required to maintain glide path on an approach into a strong headwind. Maintain air speed with pitch.
