About the Author
José Barata de Castilho nasceu em Castelo Branco em 1944. Depois do ensino primário, matriculou-se num curso comercial e, quando quis prosseguir estudos, a única saída era o ISCEF. Licenciou-se em Economia, 1969, em 1981 doutorou-se na Universidade de Orleães, obteve equivalência em Portugal, com classificação máxima. Com surpresa sua, porque se sentia mais inclinado para artes e letras, sentiu-se bem nesta área e no ensino superior, mas nunca abandonou o desejo de pintar e escrever. Professor catedrático na UL, investigador, autor de livros, é pintor e escritor. Na BNP, constam 14 livros seus, incluindo um romance. Aos 13 anos, escrevia poemas e contos. Em 1963, ganhou os primeiros prémios de conto e de poesia em jogos florais de instituição de Lisboa. Condecorado GOIP, em 2018.
