My Life Story: Lessons from a Person with a Hearing Disability

Alif Hasan was born into a world of sound but grew up learning to navigate it in silence. To this day, even his parents cannot agree on exactly when his hearing disability began — some say it was there from birth, others recall it surfacing around age five. That uncertainty, in many ways, tells its own story: a life that never came with clear answers, only the daily choice to keep moving forward anyway.

What could have been a limitation became the foundation of who he is. Alif built his resilience quietly, in classrooms and conversations where he had to work twice as hard just to keep up — and he carried that same relentless spirit into adulthood. Today, he works as a Sales & Marketing Analyst and is the founder of Zaarafy, an entrepreneurial journey shaped by the same determination that carried him through childhood.

My Life Story is Alif's first book — an honest, unfiltered look into a life lived between silence and sound. It is not a story of overcoming disability so much as a story of living fully alongside it, of finding success not despite the struggle, but because of what the struggle taught him. He hopes that in reading his story, others facing their own uncertain beginnings will find the courage to keep writing their own.
