The Unwritten Job Description is not about burning everything down and starting over. It is not a productivity system, a morning routine, or a set of principles borrowed from someone else’s idea of a good life. You might stay, change how you work, or leave. The point is that you choose on purpose. It is an invitation to look honestly at the work you are doing, the choices you are making, and the rules you have come to accept without quite stopping to question them, and to start, deliberately and without drama, rewriting those rules and designing something that actually fits. Each chapter takes one thing most professionals have been taught to overlook: where their definition of success came from, how they actually spend their energy, what they genuinely stand for, and what it would mean to make decisions that feel like theirs. Not as abstract ideas. As practical, liveable things, with questions and exercises to work through. The book is written for people who are thoughtful enough to know something needs to change and experienced enough to be suspicious of easy answers. It does not tell you what to want. It helps you figure out what you already want. About the Author I'm Serena Martino, an executive and leadership coach with 20 years of experience working with professionals and leaders navigating the gap between what looks good on paper and what actually feels right. I've coached more than 250 executives one to one, and supported many more through organisations ranging from fast-growing startups to global companies. Before coaching, I built my career in corporate leadership, including Google during its hyper-growth years, where I learned firsthand that achievement and alignment are not the same thing. This book comes from that experience, and from everything I have seen since sitting across from people who are successful, capable, and quietly wondering whether the path that got them here is still the one they want to be on.
