How to help people who have been abused if you are a male minister
Due to the scale of the problem there are now many books for the survivors of abuse and rightly so.
However, I couldn't find any books for ministers (and especially for male ministers) who want to be able to support those (and most of them will be women) who have been abused.
In fact you probably have little idea of just how many women in your Church have been abused because it takes a lot for women to trust a minister (and especially a male minister) enough to tell them that they have been abused.

The book will properly start with theology and how we model an appropriate theology so that people start to believe that the Church is a safe place for survivors of abuse.
Then how to live out the theology so that people come to believe that they can trust you with their story, with their hurts and their healing.
We look at our understanding of privelege and power dynamics and how perceptions of them vary.
There is lots of practical advice including how to respond to disclosure, how to protect yourself, on confidentiality, on listening, on prayer, on guilt, shame, forgiveness, on PTSD, on body memories and how to interface with counselling. On how to encourage, use humour, cope with feelings, with women who cry (and those who can't), maintain boundaries, relate to families. On keeping the Church appropriately informed. On relating to the police and to health professionals. What to respond to about suicide threats and attempts.
This is the guide I wish I had found 8 years ago when I found myself totally out of my depth.
