About the Book
This book is intended for parents. Many people struggle with mathematics. Sometimes those people are students; sometimes those people are the student's parents. If you want to help your child with the mathematics they are learning in fifth grade, then this book will help. It will explain math concepts and procedures in easy-to-understand language. I will not bore you with educational jargon, but I will include the academic language your child should be learning.
It is based on the Common Core Standards for Mathematics that most states in the U.S. have adopted. Educators are moving towards using these standards, and this book will help you understand the Common Core Standards. If your child is having some difficulty in math, or if you are having some difficulty helping your child with math, then this is the book for you.
Currently, during the 2013-2014 school year, this is a work in progress. I began drafting it during Camp NaNoWriMo in April 2013.My goal is to have a good first draft done by mid-June 2014.
