Learn German the way readers have always picked up languages: through a story worth finishing. This course pairs every sentence of Arthur Conan Doyle's The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes with its German translation and a word-by-word glossary, then checks your progress with quizzes as you read.

What you'll learn:

• Hundreds of everyday and literary German words, met in context.
• How English sentences map onto natural German sentences.
• Reading longer German prose with confidence.
• Spotting key words inside authentic German sentences.
• Following a full classic, from A Scandal in Bohemia to The Copper Beeches.

Who this course is for:

• Beginner-to-intermediate learners of German who want real reading practice.
• Readers who love classic literature and want to learn while they read.
• Teachers looking for a structured bilingual reading course.

Before you start:

• You should be comfortable reading English. No prior German is required, though some basics help.

How it works:

• 12 chapters, each sentence in English, then German, then a numbered glossary.
• 12 quizzes (one per chapter), 5 questions each, 3 attempts, best score counts.
• A 25-question final exam with 2 attempts and randomised question order.
• Pass mark 70%, honours at 85%.
• A certificate of completion when you pass.
