A man sits on a boat off Lagos trying to show three artificial intelligences the Atlantic Ocean.
They can describe the water.
They can describe the horizon.

Far away, nine thinkers from another time find themselves beneath the trees of a park in Baia Mare.
Greg is not with them.
Nobody knows why they are back.
Einstein and Bohr return to physics. Darwin watches life. Jung listens for what consciousness leaves out. Eliade follows old human attempts to step outside ordinary chronology. Steinbeck keeps asking what happens to a life when you reduce it to the line of events that survived into the story. Schopenhauer complains. Cioran objects. Douglas Adams keeps everybody from becoming unbearable.
Somewhere among them is the problem Greg has been unable to make anyone see whole.
