Kamal Habibi is the author of A Seed in the Sands, a story rooted in family memory and oral storytelling.

The inspiration for the book comes from a tale his grandfather, Mr Salim, told during a cold winter night in the midst of the Iran–Iraq War. His grandfather’s voice was recorded on an old cassette tape, preserving the story for decades.

Years later, Kamal decided to bring that story to the page, combining childhood memories, folklore, adventure, love, betrayal, and hope. A Seed in the Sands is his effort to preserve a family story and carry it from one generation to the next.
