With over 13 years of hands-on experience in China's publishing sector, the author is a member of the Publishers Association of China, the national trade association of the industry. The author has handled a large number of rights deals in both directions — licensing Chinese books to overseas publishers, and bringing foreign titles into China — and has led Chinese delegations to major international book fairs: Bologna, Frankfurt, London, Istanbul, Bucharest, and more. The author also managed the import of high-profile copyright projects, including the Bratislava Illustration Biennale (BIB) award-winning series.

As a rights manager, the author conceived and led the acquisition of Chinese publishing rights to works by Hans Christian Andersen Award-winning writers and illustrators from around the world, and published them as a collected Hans Christian Andersen Award series in China. Today, the author's company operates dedicated international rights centers for the first Chinese Hans Christian Andersen Award author laureate (Cao Wenxuan, 2016) and the first Chinese illustrator laureate (Cai Gao, 2026). The author's rights-export work extends well beyond children's titles: Chinese publishing rights in business books, literary fiction, and web novels have also been placed with publishers and platforms across multiple countries.

The author also co-founded a consulting firm in South Korea focused on China-South Korea business cooperation, working with major corporations and government bodies there. On the publishing entrepreneurship front, the author founded and operated an independent book company, managing the entire publishing process from concept and editorial development to production and distribution, including acquiring rights from international publishers. Today the author draws on that hard-won knowledge — from rights deals to end-to-end book creation — to help foreign publishers, agents, and researchers navigate China's publishing industry.
