Alec the Geek
I first used a computer in high school in 1987. That early opportunity launched
a lifelong career.
Beyond my early work as a programmer, I spent many years consulting for
mid-to-large organisations in Europe, the US, Asia, and Australia. This work
involved extensive writing and teaching, showing customers how to use complex
systems effectively.
For better or worse, I remain obsessed with computers. I love showing people
how useful they can be when used correctly and safely.
I now teach at local community organisations and run a small private consulting
practice. I also maintain my technical skills, speak at conferences, and write
the occasional computer program. (I even wrote some code to help layout this
book.)
