The idea for a recipe book was conceived of by the fan group The Outlandish Bakers in Spring 2014 on a baking delivery to one of the Scottish locations featured in the Starz Original TV show, Outlander.
Conceived of as a way to raise money for Scottish Autism, a charity close to the hearts of the Bakers and Kenny (one of the Outlander Drivers), the book includes recipes collected from Outlander fans from all over the world. It also features cast and crew favourites including Banoffee Pie and Peanut Butter Cookies.

The Outlandish Bakers are a group of Scotland-based Outlander fans who deliver homemade treats to the cast and crew of the show when they are on location in Scotland as a way to show their appreciation to those working tirelessly to bring the books to life.
The stars of the show, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, frequently mention the Bakers in interviews. To paraphrase Heughan, the group can be described as 'fabulous fans delivering sugary treats.'
