About the Book

In this book, we will use Docker virtualization technology to design, build, and maintain a reusable data science system. Docker’s larger ecosystem consists of Containers, Images, Nodes, Services, and Stacks as well as two cloud services we will take advantage of, Docker Hub and Docker Cloud. Using these tools we will build our application, a Jupyter Data Science Platform which will:

- be a computational mathematics platform

- be secured by https

- have available data services Redis and PostgreSQL

- have ORM libraries to access these data services

- have persistent libraries and data stores

While this is a fairly complicated stack, the beauty of Docker is that the difficult details are abstracted away from us and the implementation is surprisingly straightforward.
