Book 1: CPU Affinity, NUMA, and Thread Placement
A practical guide to CPU affinity, NUMA, and thread placement for Java engineers who need nanosecond-precise, deterministic latency. Every example compiles against the open-source faster-hft-affinity library and is enforced by its test suite.

About the Book
Modern trading systems are won and lost inside the CPU. A thread scheduled onto the wrong core costs ten microseconds. A cache miss across NUMA nodes costs a hundred. These are not exotic hardware problems — they are software problems, and this book teaches you to fix them.
Working from the hardware up, this practical guide shows Java developers how to read CPU topology the way the scheduler sees it — cores, caches, sockets, and NUMA nodes — then pin threads to specific cores, eliminate context-switch jitter, and allocate memory on the node where it is actually used. Along the way you will learn to reason about cache hierarchies, execution pipelines, and SIMD without reaching for a profiler, and to measure and verify single-digit microsecond P99 latency rather than guessing at it.
You will learn to:
Every example compiles against the open-source faster-hft-affinity library, and each printed sample is enforced by the companion repository's automated test suite. The book covers Linux, Windows, and macOS, and includes complete working implementations of NUMA-aware data structures, thread pools, and market data gateways.
Written for engineers building high-frequency trading systems, real-time market data infrastructure, and any application where predictable, minimal latency separates success from failure.
About the Author
Amar Mond is the founder and CTO of Aerodyne AI, where he builds multi-agent autonomy and game-theoretic simulation systems. He has spent nearly three decades architecting high-performance, real-time distributed systems for mission-critical environments — ultra-low-latency trading infrastructure at Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase, Lehman Brothers, Credit Suisse, and SumRidge Partners, where the technology he worked on was central to the firm's acquisition by Raymond James Financial. He is a granted US patent holder in distributed transactional processing and the author of Low Latency Programming in Java. This book grew out of building PSRO from scratch — and documenting the places where the theory and the code disagree.

We pay 80% royalties on purchases of $7.99 or more, and 80% royalties minus a 50 cent flat fee on purchases between $0.99 and $7.98. You earn $8 on a $10 sale, and $16 on a $20 sale. So, if we sell 5000 non-refunded copies of your book for $20, you'll earn $80,000.
(Yes, some authors have already earned much more than that on Leanpub.)
In fact, authors have earned over $15 million writing, publishing and selling on Leanpub.
