What matters is your direction, not your speed.

What do you want your work to make possible: professional growth, more responsibility, greater freedom to choose, a better life?

Artificial intelligence expands what we can do. Choosing where to put our effort, learning with judgement, and working well with other people still take attention. This book offers a path for working out that direction.

I'm Roberto Canales Mora, co-founder of Autentia, creator of Adictos al Trabajo, and an Executive MBA graduate of IE Business School. After fifteen years teaching executives, I've brought together the experiences, questions, and exercises from my courses and developed them more fully here. I wrote the book for people who already lead teams, those preparing to take on more responsibility, and students who want to keep working on what we began in class.

Five of the 75 laws you'll find inside:

• Law 5. Repeating the same year ten times is not the same as having ten years of experience.

• Law 33. If no result changes the plan, the test is a formality.

• Law 34. Deciding as late as possible requires investigating from early on.

• Law 40. Help that replaces someone's reasoning teaches them to ask for the answer again.

• Law 57. Speeding up one task with AI can increase the next task's queue.

Each law brings together an idea explored through cases, questions, and ways to apply it. The journey begins with you: how you learn, the value you create, and the relationships you build. It then moves into the team, its projects, and the decisions you make together.

Ideas for the challenges you face now and those ahead:

• Prepare for greater responsibility by seeing how business, technology, and people connect, even when you lead outside your own specialism.

• Create the conditions for others to decide: delegate with context, share knowledge, and build autonomy without becoming the answer to every question.

• Give the team's effort purpose: recognise queues, end meetings with agreements, and check whether what you produce creates value for customers.

• Use AI with judgement: prepare proposals, test ideas, and examine how speeding up one task changes the work as a whole.

• Build lasting relationships: make your contribution visible and understand what the people you work with need.

A book to return to as your challenges change. The introduction and 17 chapters connect real company experience, classroom exercises, and 75 laws. Lean, Kanban, Scrum, XP, and Kano serve concrete decisions. Come back when you change roles, prepare a difficult conversation, or rethink a project. The value lies in the selection, sequence, and connections that give these ideas a direction.

You can explore the free sample before deciding. It covers the introduction and the first chapter through section 1.5, so you can get to know the voice, examples, and way of working. Leanpub's 60-day refund policy applies to purchases.

This book is part of HardMent, the education and publishing project I share with Iván Carrillo. Buying it helps us sustain the time and effort we put into creating new projects and sharing knowledge. HardMent takes its name from hardiment, associated with boldness: for us, learning deeply and daring to put it into practice.

This isn't a promise of a particular career outcome. It offers ideas and practices you can test as you decide where to go next. If these are the challenges you're working on, start with one of them.
