Nikesh Lagun
Nikesh Lagun (born October 24, 2005, in Dhading Bensi, Nepal) is a cognitive theorist and independent researcher best known for founding Cognitive Drive Architecture (CDA), a proposed structural field within cognitive psychology that models how cognitive effort is initiated, regulated, and maintained. His primary contribution, Lagunian Dynamics, formalizes Drive through six interacting variables: Primode, CAP, Flexion, Anchory, Grain, and Slip, across Ignition, Tension, and Flux domains. His work also extends to Cognitive Thermostat Theory (CTT) and Latent Task Architecture (LTA), offering insights into task initiation failure and motivational breakdowns. Lagun’s research bridges cognitive science, systems theory, and applied self-help, reframing procrastination and burnout as structural misalignments rather than personality flaws. His flagship paper, Lagun’s Law and the Foundations of Cognitive Drive Architecture, outlines the CDA framework in a falsifiable, systems-based model.
