Who is this book for?

Building a Shopware 6 store from A to Z, complying with all legal requirements, designing it attractively, marketing it professionally, and processing all orders quickly is not something most people should tackle alone—unless you genuinely enjoy it and can regularly invest time in maintaining and continuously improving your shop. In any case, you should definitely own this book.

Our manual is primarily intended for all users of the Shopware 6 On-Premise version. Since version 6, Shopware has also been officially available as a SaaS version under Shopware Cloud, which we will cover later on—as many aspects are identical to the On-Premise version, though not all.

The book is also very much suitable for absolute beginners. We share tips starting from finding suitable products, through legal requirements, all the way to installing, configuring, designing, and optimizing Shopware 6.

Of course, professionals will also find valuable insights, especially in the guest chapters.

These pages are ideal both for thoroughly onboarding new employees and for refreshing or expanding existing foundational knowledge. All relevant topics are covered in appropriate depth as required—sometimes down to the smallest detail.

If your goal is to independently build a Shopware 6 shop from scratch, make it visually appealing, and then market it professionally, you will find everything you need here, broken down step by step.

Those who already have some experience can get their own store up and running quite quickly. For beginners, it should be noted that, apart from time and patience, the necessary financial resources and a capable team may be required to achieve success.

In short: This book is for you.

Foreword by Sebastian Hamann

I fondly remember an experience from the early days of Shopware, at an e-commerce expo. A man approached our stand. He wanted to launch an online shop and had previously been told by a large agency that setting up his own shop would only be possible with enormous effort, deep software development knowledge, and a budget of several hundred thousand euros—just for a rigid, monolithic webshop.

I then gave him a Shopware demo—and he was thrilled. I've witnessed similar reactions countless times from our customers over the years, and I have to say, it's the best validation for Shopware there is.

Our goal has always been to build an e-commerce platform with maximum flexibility and full scalability, enabling merchants in B2C, B2B, and D2C to realize any imaginable business scenario. Innovations like our AI Copilot, Spatial Commerce, and Digital Sales Rooms—just to name a few—are essential parts of this strategy.

Most important, however, is the vibrant and diverse ecosystem on which Shopware is built and of which we are justifiably proud. Developers, partners, technology providers, and e-commerce enthusiasts around the globe make Shopware what it is.

And the most rewarding confirmation of this is projects like this book: many Shopware partners joining forces to create a comprehensive Shopware work like this, which perfectly embodies our spirit—and provides a valuable guide that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone interested in Shopware.

Enjoy reading!
