From time to time we at The Medical Futurist ask ourselves: what’s the point of the digitisation of healthcare and the use of advanced technologies in the practice of medicine? Where does it lead us and in what form does it contribute to our everyday lives? Well, we believe that invisible, seamless and preventive healthcare is possible, and digital tools can contribute highly to achieving this goal.

However, the effectiveness and the added value of these technologies differ. Or we could say: not all technologies are equal. The reason why we made this analysis is that we felt the need to visualise what we know now. Showing the trends of certain technologies on their level of maturity can help avoid unnecessary overexcitement around a concept. At the same time, it can create hope that specific technologies will improve the patient-physician relationship through the required cultural transformation we call digital health.
