Mastering Ontology Engineering with Protege and Pizza.owl teaches ontology engineering the way most tutorials don't: hands-on, in Protege, using the well-known Pizza.owl domain, and connected the whole way through to a modern framework for building executable semantic systems.

Volume 1 is where you start. You'll install Protege, learn to navigate its workspace, and build the Pizza ontology from nothing: classes, named classes, a working reasoner, disjoint classes, and a look at what actually lives inside the RDF/XML file once you hit save. Chapter 00 also introduces the Executable Knowledge Architecture (EKA) framework, a five-layer model that this entire four-volume series builds toward, so that by the end you're not just modeling concepts, you're designing systems that act on them.

This is not a dry reference. Every chapter pairs a YouTube walkthrough with the matching eBook chapter and hands-on Protege exercises, so you watch, read, and practice in the same pass.

In this volume you'll learn to:

Install and confidently navigate Protege
Build class hierarchies and named classes that hold up under reasoning
Run a reasoner and tell asserted knowledge apart from inferred knowledge
