William B. Salt II, MD
The IBS Guru:
Caring for and teaching those suffering with
IBS, SIBO, and gut microbiome related diseases
Dr Salt graduated from medical school at The Ohio State University and trained at Vanderbilt University Hospitals, where he also served as Chief Resident in Medicine. He is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. Dr Salt has had a life-long career focus upon, and expertise in, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and, most recently, commonly associated gut microbiome dysfunction: SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), IMO (intestinal methane overgrowth of Methanobrevibacter smithii), EHS (excess hydrogen sulfide), and impaired gut barrier function ("leaky gut").
Dr Salt bridges the divide between traditional mainline gastroenterology and natural and holistic health disciplines. He is an integrative gastroenterologist—and there are very few—who recognizes the complementary benefit of combining the best of gastroenterology with integrative, functional, naturopathic, and alternative medicine.
