About the Authors
Alan Clark has been an independent business coach, consultant, trainer and improvement coach for twenty years, in management development, business process improvement and Lean Six Sigma. His clients in the UK cover a broad range of industries including banking, the criminal justice system, software development, manufacturing, NHS, food manufacturing, recycling, outsourced office services, law, and local government. He has a special interest in making management easier to understand and do! He has also taught as a part-time and as a visiting lecturer at the University of Birmingham as well as De Montfort and Coventry Universities. He is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and a Chartered Quality Professional.
By training I am a chemist and spent 26 years in industry, through product development to sales and marketing. Since the early 90’s have been involved in “quality”, in one way or another, as consultant or assessor.
In my time in industry I had watched, with incomprehension, highly intelligent managers doing things that seemed totally counterproductive. I now believe that there is a better, sustainable way for organisation based on Deming++, which enables people to use practical intelligence that works.

There are plenty of other “graphic designers” but there is only one Steve Pitt. Living in my ‘graphic design world’ for over a quarter of a century. But looking and learning for much longer... my natural ability has been nurtured from an early age, an appreciation of light, dark and composition. My natural skills have developed (and continue to be!) into the services I offer now. From my love of typefaces to the pleasure of creating a flowing layout, to joy of a simple curve of a form...
