About the Book
Extend Your PowerShell Learning in a Whole New Way
Microsoft MVP and veteran PowerShell teacher Jeff Hicks has created a PowerShell book unlike anything you've read before. Those books are useful and the assumption for this book is that you have read something like Learn Windows PowerShell in a Month of Lunches or have equivalent experience. You understand some PowerShell basics but need to improve your fluency and expertise. Learning PowerShell is no different than learning any foreign language. You need to practice it and use it constantly. That's where The PowerShell Practice Primer comes into the picture.
This book consists of 100 PowerShell-centric problems or exercises. The solutions should be no more than a few lines of PowerShell commands that you would run in an interactive session. This is not a PowerShell scripting book. This is a book designed to improve your proficiency in the PowerShell paradigm, language and syntax. The exercises don't require any lab environment. You should be able to answer everything with a Windows 10 desktop.
Is This All Fun and Games?
This exercises in this book are based on (mostly) real-world and practical applications. The hope is that you'll have fun figuring out a solution and that the *real* learning happens during that process. How you come up with an answer is more important to the learning process than the answer itself.
Publish on the Go
This is an Agile-published book, If updates or corrections are necessary I can easily publish a new version. I'll even email you via Leanpub (if you opt-in) when there's something new. Please note that it is highly unlikely I will produce a hard copy version to release on Amazon.com. If you want this book, this is the place to get it.
Check Out the Free Sample
The free sample includes sample chapters, but why bother? Leanpub has a no-questions-asked refund policy, so it's completely risk-free to grab the "real" book and see what you think. By the way, the sample exercises are not repeated in the book so you might think if them a bonus content!
What Formats are Available?
All Leanpub books are offered in PDF, MOBI, and EPUB, and you get all three with your purchase. I love the "Send to Kindle" feature. Note that the PDF is probably the "highest fidelity" version, especially in terms of code listings. Although Microsoft Edge can open and display the epub version. It can even read the book aloud for you!
