Marc is a UK software developer with a long history in the world of .NET; after a decade at the UK educational IT company "RM", he spent the next decade at Stack Overflow / Stack Exchange. For much of this time he held the Microsoft MVP award, which he finally had to surrender when moving to a role at Microsoft, where he currently works on the Distributed Systems team. Marc's core skills focus on anything that moves data into, out of, and between systems - including serialization, networking, HTTP, SQL, ADO.NET, Redis, gRPC, and everything that comes with those tools - in particular with a focus on performance and meta-programming.

Finding gaps in the tools that existed, he is the primary author of the popular .NET tools Dapper, StackExchange.Redis, protobuf-net / protobuf-net.Grpc, and a few others - with over a billion downloads of his NuGet packages.
