Simon Ellis is a dance artist. He is from New Zealand but now lives in London, and is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Dance Research (C-DaRE) at Coventry University. His recent choreographies are Pause. Listen (with Chisato Ohno and Jackie Shemesh), We Record Ourselves (with Owa Barua, Katrina McPherson and Natalia Barua), and We Like Lists Because We Don't Want to Die (with Shannon Bott). He also works closely with Colin Poole as Colin, Simon and I, and their latest work is Our White Friend. He is particularly interested the limits and possibilities of collaboration in choreographic processes, and is also developing research that investigates the ways in which screen culture is changing dance and choreographic practices, ideas and understandings. Simon co-edits the International Journal of Screendance with Harmony Bench.
