Oscar Alateras
My name is Oscar Alateras and I am currently a Year 9 student. From an extremely young age, I have always had a passion running deep in my veins to make a positive difference to this world. Now throughout the years, the exact topic that my passion has been directed to has varied. But one day in year 7, something happened that changed that; and I found my true passion that has stayed with me ever since that day and never left my side.
My class was shown a documentary made by Leonardo Di Caprio about climate change. It revealed to me the truth about our world that media and politicians have been trying to hide for quite some time. After seeing that such a famous person like Di Caprio cared about the issue of climate change, and took the time out of his busy life to make a documentary about it, really showed me that this issue is important. Not only that, it also illustrated that climate change is a global issue that needs immediate attention. From that day forward, I began studying the topic and learning more about it so that when I graduate university, I would be ready to tackle this issue head on and really make a difference. But at the beginning of 2018, I realised something - why wait until after university to make a difference. We are never too young to change our world for the better.
That was when I decided to start this project to write a book about climate change. The first step in solving an issue is to make sure that everyone is aware of it. This is exactly what I want to do through this book. I want to create awareness for climate change and show to you, the reader, the truth about our world.
