Daniel Patchett
Biography
BFA Maryland Institute College of Art, MA University of Iowa 1971, Former Director of the Lake Placid School of Art and the Associate Managing Director, Center for Music, Drama & Art (now known as The Lake Placid Center for the Arts).
During the 1970s I worked with Nettie Marie Jones to establish and build the new Art Center. Developing quality visual and performing arts programs during the art center's first decade.
Following the Art Center I worked for a software development company for management of school food service. Went on to work for two national corporations as product designer and marketing director and presently manage an estate jewelry business.
I’m passionate about history and created a web site and an ever expanding photographic archive tribute to the Iconic Vogue Model Jean Patchett (my cousin). Recently I worked with Richard Kauffman of Panoptic Design to create a web site for the former Lake Placid School of Art and Art Center. I am building a data base of information and photos about the Art Center, Art School and it's alumni, faculty and colleagues for the website and archives.
I see myself as a historian, archivist and authority on the career and life of the late Jean Patchett, as well as the early history of the Lake Placid School of Art and Center for Music, Drama & Art. For the past five years I've done extensive research and conducted interviews with staff, faculty and former board members involved with the Art Center in Lake Placid. Historic information, photographs, and people’s accounts combined with personal remembrances compose my chronicle titled: Paradox Bay - My Lake Placid Education with Nettie Marie Jones.
