This book is for developers who want to start with the Elm platform. It is expected that the reader has some web applications development experience and knows a bit about JavaScript. This is not a beginner's programming text.

It is the first part of a four part course about Elm that leads from a simple start with the platform to more real-time examples culminating in a (spiritual) re-write of Borland's Sidekick. A word about Elm versions: at the moment we are using - as in the examples of the book - version 0.18. Version 0.19 is brewing since a 2016 and is expected to arrive "soon". In any case, the book will be updated to the latest version as soon as 0.19 is released.
