About a year ago I decided to trade-in my $2000.00 Mac in favor of a $200.00 Chromebook
After deciding to take the plunge, I wrote a few blog posts about the experience and since then I've answered a lot of questions about the pros and cons of using Chrome OS hardware for software development. This book is my effort to capture the answers to those questions, along with my personal experience using an inexpensive Chromebook as my primary software development tool.
If you're a software developer looking for an alternative to expensive, high-powered workstations and laptops, or if you're just curious about what Chrome OS hardware is capable of this book will show you how you can use an inexpensive Chromebook to write real software using both web-based development environments as well as more traditional Linux development tools (and a few other tricks as well). This book may also be interesting to up-and-coming developers who have yet to decide how they want to write software and are looking for an inexpensive way to get started.
