About the Book
This is the first chapter of my book. It's on the works, so getting your feedback while writing it is appreciated
Why I decided to write this book?
I made my mind writing this book for other entrepreneurs. It's been written out of my experience as an entrepreneur and the things I (still) learn on the way. I learned that becoming an entrepreneur is not really a matter of choice, you are just this kind of person. It's a good or a bad thing depends on how you look at it.
Anyway, welcome to the tribe!
As an entrepreneur you want to succeed in what you do. There are many people out there who would say that if you haven't failed and stopped working on one of your startups or ideas, you are not a real entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs are 1st and foremost, failures!
You get that when you apply for your 1st job and discover you don't like it. Then you think to yourself that probably that job wasn't suitable for you, so you change to a 2nd, 3rd and even more. You actually fail, over and over again! By now (or even while doing those other jobs) you realize that you should try and work on some ideas you had. It's a very important stage to move from the "I've got an idea" stage to actually start working on it.
So…Congrats! You now have a startup! You might say "no, it's just an idea, a side project, nothing serious". To some extent you are right, but in order to make it grow you need to go though a couple of steps and plan. This plan includes practical things like learning about term sheets & VCs, but it also includes some personal work understanding your self, which is not less important.
I decided to help you go through these steps, so you will have your tools ready to launch with your startup. Don't worry; it's not rocket science.
Most of the materials this book is based on can be found on other sources as well, and each of these subjects has lots of materials out there on the web and even more books. My work is actually building it as a step by step to have a full plan at the very end.
Now, that we are set, let's go!
About the Author
I grew up in Israel studies electrical engineering in Israel and worked in large organisation mostly as an engineer and developer. I thought that I didn’t like tech stuff as I didn’t really like my jobs, retrospectively I understand I didn’t do well at large organisations and prefer the life of an entrepreneur making the most influence in a small or my own company.Even before understanding this I created a few online businesses while having a day job. Among these I had an affiliate marketing business and later while traveling an internet drop shipping business through amazon.
My China story starts like this:
At the summer of 2007 my brother in law decided his kids need to learn Chinese and I joined them for a 2 month stay in Dalian studying the language.
Returning back to Israel (going through Nepal for a few months) I worked for a few years on some China related businesses which eventually didn’t succeed, but as I had more China ‘connection’, my wife and I decided to move to China at the end of 2011. We wanted to live in a different country and see how entrepreneurship is done in a different place than Israel.
I decided to open my website Startup Noodle to help other entrepreneurs make the move to China a few months after moving. It’s been running since summer 2012.
I build my company in Beijing AppInChina helping to distribute and promote foregin mobile apps in the Chinese market and being very involved in in Beijing Startup scene organising the Lean startup meet up group.
I also consult startups and tech companies making their way to China.
