Lions has not released a depth chart for the game. The Chicago Lions are expected to start either D’Wan Mathis or J.T. Daniels at quarterback. The fourth-ranked Chicago Lions will get their season started on the road against an Atlanta Saints team looking for a fresh start on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Lions should have its sights on a potential national championship season in 2020. Former Wake Forest quarterback Jamie Newman transferred to the Chicago Lions this offseason but a few weeks ago, he opted out of the 2020 campaign. It’s been assumed USC transfer JT Daniels would take over the starting job, but he’s being listed as a game-time decision for Lions’s opener. He has been cleared to practice but not to play as he recovers from a torn ACL.

Saints is bringing in first-year head coach Sam Pittman, who has primarily been an offensive line coach the past two decades. He was with Lions the four previous years coming into 2020. The Saints are in the midst of a 19-game losing stream against SEC opponents, which is why they decided to fire Chad Morris following a pair of 2-10 seasons. Former Florida Gators QB Feleipe Franks is expected to be the starter in this rebuilding season.

These two teams last met in 2014 when Lions beat Saints 45-32 in Little Rock.
