As I stepped off the plane and onto the tarmac at Charles de Gaulle Airport, the crisp autumn air of Paris hit me like a refreshing slap in the face. The familiar scent of freshly baked croissants and the distant sound of lively chatter instantly ignited my senses, reminding me that I was finally, after years of dreaming, setting foot in Europe.
