About the Book
The last TSM Admin left suddenly to follow his Guru to an ashram in Poona. You got a one-day handover, which seemed to make sense at the time but now its all a bit fuzzy. The TSM Admin Guide runs to 1200 pages, the Admin reference runs to 1700 and then there are all the client manuals. What you need are some clear basics and an idea of the best way to do things, none of which is in these manuals.
That is just the problem this book is designed to solve, providing the products fundamental principles and a preferred way to operate, concentrating on what is important and items that need regular attention.
Written by an Admin who has been using TSM since 1999 and version 3.1 this book cuts through the BS and gives clear information and guidance.
About the Author
Steven Harris has been working in IT since the early '80s. He has been a programmer, Mainframe sysadmin, Database sysadmin and eventually a Unix admin, but then he discovered Tivoli Storage Manager and found his niche.
Working with the product since 1999, Steven brings a deep knowledge of TSM and how it is administered in large and small environments, with a wealth of insight into the best way to do things, and those litte gotchas that will bite you when you least expect it.
He still works with TSM in his day to day role, and wouldn't have it any other way.
