"Maybe you’re reading this as-it-happens. If so, I’d love to know there’s someone else out there and that we’re not alone. Obviously there’s someone else keeping bits of the internet alive, but really I’m writing this in the knowledge that whatever time we’ve got left is limited, and I just wanted to let whoever has rediscovered what remained of our civilisation, that once, there were humans. Once there was a race of people who weren’t always running."
Once, There Were Humans is a collection of blog posts and diary entries by former journalist Tom Paxton. When the world's worst fears were made real, Tom and many survivors like him fled for shelter, companionship or safety. This is how Tom's story starts, but as we uncover more literature from that period every day, we don't yet know how it ends.
