About the Book
Self-selection is a facilitated process that allows people to exercise autonomy by choosing their preferred initiatives and joining new teams. As exciting as it may sound to some, the idea of changing teams in a public forum may cause others to experience all sorts of fear: fear of missing out, fear of not being selected, fear of picking a wrong team...
This books is your guide to easing this discomfort starting with a gamified simulation workshop.
By offering this hands-on experience to your participants, you will lead them through effective preparation steps and a round of self-selection simulation. Elements of Training From The Back of The Room framework as well as hands-on activities (drawing, making participants’ cards with “Team Ingredients Assessment”, playing Spooky Questions card game) will keep everyone engaged and maximize learning.
Game-like format of this workshop will help you create a safe space for the participants and will enables them to ask and answer their own "spooky" questions.
When is the best time to run a self-selection? How to reduce team members' discomfort? How to convince your leadership team to give self-selection a try? Should you include consultants or employees only? When should you not run the self-selection? All these questions (and more) are discussed in this facilitator's guide.
Detailed step-by-step instructions with sample team blueprints, agenda and team ingredients assessment are included in this book. Additionally, a PDF of Spooky Questions cards can be purchased as part of the book bundle
