About the Book
Originally written and posted on the author's website and revised in 2016 for publication as a book, this collection of essays represents an atempt to reconcile United States' baby boomer sensibility with the ten precepts of Mahayana Buddhism. Writing these was a self-imposed commitment in observance of the author's "taking of the precepts" ceremony in March of 2012.
They are offered as a book for students of zen buddhism who tread the middle way. Perhaps too lenient for the devout and too demanding of the dillettante, these essays simply offer one person's thoughtful reconciliation of how ethical quandaries are really reminders of dualism overtaking one's view.
The author's sen teacher has reviewed the original 2012 versions of these essays and said "there is some understanding."
