About the Book
These black and white photographs were captured from 1966 to 1970, and paint in silver a historical journey through the Sixties. As a Navy photographer, William Elmore Gann traveled on assignments from the Summer of Love in San Francisco to Richard Nixion's 1968 Inaguration in Washington D. C. He posed as a gay journalist to photograph and infiltrate the Benny Boys of the Philippine Islands, and went on to the combat zones of the Vietnam War.
About the Author
William Elmore Gann is retired from 36 years in education as a journalism and photography teacher. During these years he often worked on photojournalism projects, and is widely published from these efforts. He taught photography for 14 years at Ladera Vista Junior High School in Fullerton. He worked and lived 6 years in Brazil, teaching writing and photography at international schools in Sao Paulo and Rio. For his last 16 years in teaching he worked with at-risk students for the Los Angeles County Office of Education.
