About the Book
Title: Divertimento
Composer: Dave Nicolette, op. 6, 2010
Description
This five-movement piece follows the general form of a divertimento in that the movements exhibit contrasting styles, but it's really a jazz piece masquerading as classical music. For instance, the Gigue is in 3/8, but is really has a 12/8 feel. All four parts have improvised solos in all five movements.
Instrumentation:
- Soprano Saxophone
- Alto Saxophone
- Tenor Saxophone
- Baritone Saxophone
Durations and downloadable audio files (Ogg format, synthesized by MuseScore2). Keep in mind the synthesizer doesn't generate anything for the improvised solos, so there are empty spaces in the playback. You can get a sense of how the music goes, at least.
